The 2024 Poverty Report Card for provinces/territories is provided by Food Banks Canada. The Ontario report card can be compared to those of other provinces. For 2024, Ontario’s report card grade is D-, compared to C+ for Quebec.

The grades represent how well poverty reduction efforts are going in the provincial, territorial, and federal governments. As poverty is the result of many factors, including the cost of housing and everyday needs, to the quality of the social safety net, these Report Cards explore the experience of poverty across Canada and where governments can take steps to improve their social policy.

The Report Card is a living tool which will be updated annually, to track how much progress governments are making in reducing poverty.
