In 2023, most Canadians reported a high level of satisfaction and trust in their personal relationships. They did report some distrust with information and news from the media, particularly from non-traditional sources, such as the Internet and social media.

This data is from the most recent cycle of the Canadian Social Survey – Quality of Life, Virtual Health Care and Trust. Results focus on people’s satisfaction with personal relationships and trust in people, as well as trust in information and news from the media.

“Trust in others” and “satisfaction with personal relationships” are two indicators from Canada’s Quality of Life Framework. This analytical framework helps the federal government identify future priorities by collecting essential data on the well-being of Canadians.
