On April 27, 2022, Statistics Canada released Census Profile information from the 2021 Census of the Population for various levels of geography, including provinces and territories, census metropolitan areas, communities and census tracts.

Data for the Niagara regional Municipality Census Division shows that, according to 2021 Census data:

  • Niagara’s population totalled 477,941 in 2021, a percentage change of 6.7 per cent from 447,888 in 2016
  • The average age in Niagara is 44.4; and the median age is 46
  • The distribution of the population by broad age groups is:
    • 0 to 14 years – 14.8 per cent
    • 15 to 64 years – 61.9 per cent
    • 65 years and over – 23.3 per cent
    • 85 years and over  – 3.1 per cent
