Policy Brief #30 for Brock’s Niagara Community Observatory was written in partnership with the Brock Centre for Sport Capacity. It examines the impact of various sport events in Niagara with the aim of generating a future strategy for bidding and hosting as well as the best methodology for assessing their impact on the region. As well as providing a summary of the economic impact of several recent sport events hosted within Niagara, it uses as a case study the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts (women’s Canadian curling championship), held in St. Catharines.
