Competencies for Canada’s Substance Abuse Workforce identifies Technical and Behavioural Competencies required to perform effectively in the substance abuse field, from health promotion, support and outreach, counselling, withdrawal management and supervision to administration and senior management. The Competencies also applies to allied professionals such as primary healthcare providers, enforcement officials, Elders, volunteers and social workers who interact with individuals who have substance abuse issues.
