In 2022, four local organizations (Niagara Region, Niagara College, Brock University and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority) collaborated to establish the Niagara Climate Change Action Network (NCCAN).

The network was established to support and accelerate a progressive, collaborative, and equitable approach to addressing the effects of climate change in the Niagara Region

A total of 51 NCCAN members are working together, with a focus on:
– A pathway to net zero
– Biodiversity
– Climate resilient infrastructure

Climate change action includes Mitigation (reduces greenhouse gas emissions to limit climate change); and Adaptation (adjusts to climate change impacts and attempts to reduce vulnerability).

The NCCAN website provides a table that outlines all the projects and initiatives that network members have completed or are working on, to address climate change and the network’s 3 focus areas.
