In 2022, the Shaw Festival Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake marked its 60th anniversary and presented 783 of 811 scheduled performances, 17 separate productions, and a concert series on five stages (two outdoor and three indoor), as well as shows in the community – to an audience of 170,803.
In addition, The Shaw hosted add-on experiences, including 3,943 events, classes, workshops, and activities, which engaged 60,903 participants – the largest number for these add-ons in its 60-year history. The theatre has grown to be Niagara’s largest cultural charity, and one of the 20 largest employers in the region. Every dollar spent with The Shaw leverages an average of $7+ in local and regional spend.
The Shaw Guild is a volunteer organization with hundreds of members, who contribute thousands of volunteer hours toward Shaw Festival activities and donate proceeds of fundraising efforts to The Shaw.
