This recording shows the benefits and challenges of Generative AI (GAI) adoption, drawing insights from a research study on early GAI adopters in Niagara. Brock University researchers Kate Cassidy and Michelle Chen state that while GAI presents promising opportunities to help small businesses and non-profits to stay competitive, meet demands, and adapt to rapid technological change, it also comes with risks that require thoughtful management.  Panel presenters are: Dolores Fabiano, South Niagara Chambers of Commerce; Rachel Gillmore, Community Potential; and  Blake Landry,  Niagara Region Economic Development.
Strategies to empower small businesses and non-profits to leverage GAI effectively and responsibly include:
  • Sector-specific training and education
  • Community outreach and engagement
  • Knowledge-sharing forums and toolkits
  • Regulatory and compliance support
  • Advocacy and resource mobilization
  • Targeted support for non-profits.
