Improving data governance is one way in which organizations in Canada’s performing arts sector are collaborating to foster more data sharing and data reuse, as well as helping the organizations reach their goals.

Examples of data use include:

  • understanding audience habits and patterns;
  • developing digital communication strategies;
  • delivering new performance experiences;
  • and creating digital archives of past work.

This report lays out both the opportunities and challenges for data sharing and collaboration in the sector, drawing on research results and examples from organizations in the performing arts field. It also explores the approach of defining principles as a way to build alignment among organizations in the sector.
