The Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council was created in August of 2007, as a cross-border non-profit organization to increase public awareness and participation in the Bicentennial. The Bicentennial marks the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the 200 years of peace between Canada and the United States that followed. The Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council is made up of a bi-national Board of Directors composed of persons associated with leading Niagara institutions. A number of sub-committees, including: Education, Operations, Marketing and Fundraising/Sponsorship meet quarterly to discuss and act upon relevant issues.
