This workshop aims to provide an introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for clinicians working with adolescents. It offers an overview of the theoretical foundations and assumptions of ACT and an explanation of the six ACT Processes. Participants will become familiar with the ACT processes, learn how to work with adolescents using the trans-diagnostic ACT approach that is suitable for either individual or group work. Participants will also develop an understanding of when and how a client can be drawn from one ACT process to another in order to reduce emotional avoidance and increase psychological flexibility and be able to facilitate ACT work with clients using the ACT Matrix.

Direct Service Workers: drop-in workers, shelter and hostel workers, child and youth workers, youth justice workers.
