Almost 50% of older adults moving into long-term care will have depression and show symptoms of depression. The transition to long-term care is an important intervention point to address their unique mental health needs. In addition, older adults are more at risk to experience delirium in later life whether they are living in the community or long-term care.

This webinar will present information so that you can:

  1. RECOGNIZE the signs of mental health problems with a focus on mood and behaviours of older adults living in long term care.
  2. IDENTIFY treatment options (both social support and pharmacological) to support older adults who are experiencing mental health problems in long-term care.
  3. APPRECIATE the seriousness of delirium, risk factors, symptoms, and causes of delirium.
  4. INTERVENE with older clients/patients to detection, treat and prevent delirium.
