Advocating for Poverty Reduction the “Rights” Way

Integral to the human rights approach is the idea that every human being – at their core – has and must be able to access their civil, cultural, economic, social and political rights. By not adequately addressing the systems and processes that place people in poverty, we are failing not only our neighbours and communities, but also our binding international commitments.

From a rights-based lens, we must acknowledge that every one of us – government officials, business leaders, community actors, and all individuals – have a role to play in ensuring that these rights and freedoms are realized
