Age-Friendly Communities Outreach Program

Using census data, the City of Toronto identified the Kensington-Chinatown as a neighborhood with a large proportion of older Chinese senior residents who were at high risk for social isolation.

In order to better understand the issues impacting older Chinese adults living in the Kensington-Chinatown Neighborhood (KCN), a multi-phase needs assessment was undertaken by the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE) in partnership with City of Toronto and community partners to inform a consensus-planning meeting with stakeholders to develop an action plan to make the KCN more age-friendly.

The aim of the resulting action plan is to serve as a platform to support age-friendly initiatives aimed at reducing social isolation in older Chinese adults living in the KCN.

In this webinar, you will hear more about the processes undertaken to conduct the needs assessment and the resulting action plan for the KCN, which can be used as a template to help assist with your development of an age-friendly action plan for your community.

This webinar is hosted by the Age-Friendly Communities Outreach Program.
